Production of medical drugs and other products of the pharmaceutical industry is subject to a stringent system of standards and regulations, adherence to which is strictly enforced. In addition, the production of labels that are applied for medical drugs is governed by its specific mode. The labels are usually specially encoded or utilise security features (e.g. numbering).

The current offer of chemist’s shops includes, in addition to classical medical drugs, also a broad choice of vitamins and dietary supplements (nutraceuticals). Regarding the nature of these products the pertinent label used to identify them also plays a very important marketing role, being the tool for visualisation and highlighting the specific product.
