The Christmas holidays are slowly approaching, but we couldn’t wait for them to arrive, so we gave ourselves a gift in advance.  We decided to expand our range of label machines with another model, and not just any model. We will add a machine to produce labels without liners:  L I N E R L E S S.  We will be the first to produce Linerless labels in the Czech Republic and we are proud of it.  The huge advantage of this machine is that it uses up to 30% less material during production and produces no silicone waste. Linerless will help us, and our customers, to achieve our sustainable development goals. We are pleased to be able to offer more to our customers. This time it's about building a brand through a new standard in labeling that is cheaper, more efficient and, most importantly, more sustainable for the future. "We were convinced to make this investment by the strong demand from our customers at responsible companies that share a commitment to sustainability and eco-design," explains Vladislav Kašpar, Director at Label design.

Cheaper, More Efficient, and Sustainable

Linerless labels do not leave a silicone backing, which is typical when printing other types of labels, so they are waste-free. Linerless labels, which do not have a backing, are stored on a reel. This is made possible by the fact that they are printed with a special coating which prevents the face and reverse sides from sticking to each other. The absence of a backing strip means that many more labels can be wound on a roll of a given diameter, so the customer gets more labels from each roll. Since the frequency of roll changes is halved, downtime for role changes is much shorter, resulting in higher productivity and operational efficiency. At the same time, transport and storage costs are also reduced.

When used in printers, Linerless labels allow you to automatically adjust the size of labels, a function which was previously very difficult to achieve. Since these labels are not cut to a predetermined size, the label format can be changed as needed to suit specific needs. The smart Linerless printer automatically detects text size and reduces or increases space, so there is no wasted space during the printing process. This helps to reduce operating costs and save material.

Enables New Label Designs

Linerless also allows the production of structurally different labels, in addition to labels on reels, such as ribbons and rings. These can be used to close the product packaging without directly sticking to the product. The adhesive is only applied where the tape overlaps, or only on the ring, and the product does not have to be completely sealed. In addition, perforations can be used as a safety measure to control the opening of packages. Of course, these methods allow easier sorting of the packaging for the end consumer.
No silicone waste, savings in wood, water, and electricity, and a reduction in transport logistics are all ways that reduce our carbon footprint and thus our impact on the environment.
